Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

This blog is an extension of the work I do through Hikmah Consulting and a space to share reflections, tools, and hard-won lessons from the world of leadership, strategy, and organisational life. If you’re someone trying to lead with clarity and integrity in a complex environment, this space is for you.

Why This Blog?

Over the years, I’ve worked with a range of organisations from not-for-profits, faith-based groups, public sector bodies, and values-led enterprises. What they all had in common was a desire to make a meaningful impact without losing sight of who they are. But in practice, that’s rarely simple.

This blog is my way of sharing what I’ve learned - what works, what doesn’t, and how we can stay grounded while navigating growth, change, and pressure. It’s not about grand theory, it’s about practical wisdom (hikmah), drawn from real experiences.

What You’ll Find Here

This won’t be a generic business blog. It’s going to be real, grounded, and shaped by the kinds of questions I hear every day in my consulting practice.

Topics will include:

  • Strategic clarity – How to set direction without overcomplicating it. Strategy that actually gets used.

  • Culturally responsive practice – Lessons on working with diverse communities in a way that is meaningful, not tokenistic.

  • Faith-informed leadership – Reflections on how faith and values can shape how we govern, serve, and grow.

  • Governance and accountability – Navigating boards, risk, regulation, and community expectations.

  • Sector insights – Commentary on trends and challenges in the not-for-profit, community, and public sectors.

Whether you’re leading a small organisation, advising a board, managing risk, or designing a new initiative, my hope is that something here will support your journey.

What Guides This Space

The word hikmah means wisdom, but not just any wisdom. It’s knowledge applied with care, humility, and purpose. That’s the spirit I want to bring to this blog.

You can expect writing that is:

  • Grounded – no buzzwords or jargon for its own sake

  • Values-aligned – rooted in trust, integrity, and cultural intelligence

  • Constructive – practical insights you can apply

  • Candid – honest takes, even when they’re challenging

I’ll also share templates, frameworks, and tools where they might help -

always with a sense of what it means in practice.

Let’s Build This Together

If you’re a leader, practitioner, or just someone trying to do good work well, I hope you’ll follow along. Share posts that resonate. Ask questions. Challenge ideas. This isn’t just a space to speak, it’s a space to learn and reflect together.

Thanks for being here. Let’s get started.
